SOSH

As Lead Product & Brand Designer, I bridged back-of-house tools for merchants with front-of-house experiences for consumers. Designing both the engine that powers local discovery and the interface that makes every city feel like home.

The Opportunity

EXPLORE

Social Discovery
and Connection

Live, Curated Content Feed:
The database was constantly updated by our local city teams ensuring content stayed fresh, relevant, and city-specific. The feed prioritized trending events and new partnerships with up-and-coming venues.

Social Layer Built In:
Each event tile was designed with social interaction in mind. Users could see if friends had bookmarked or visited a spot, and directly invite others. Making discovery feel shared and personal.

Smart Local Trends:
With thousands of users in each city, the interface surfaced what was trending based on real-time engagement, helping users tap into the local vibe without having to dig.

Seamless UX for
VIP Experiences

End-to-End Booking Flow:
I helped shape a streamlined experience that allowed users to select a date, view event details, invite friends, and complete payment, all within the app. The goal was to remove friction and make the experience feel effortless.

Contextual Design by City & Season:
Working with account teams, we developed a system for launching events tied to seasonal trends, local culture, and merchant availability. This ensured the content felt relevant and timely in each market.

Visual Design for Conversion:
I created promotional assets and event visuals that elevated the perceived value of each experience, while aligning with Sosh’s brand. These assets were used across app modules, emails, and landing pages to drive engagement and bookings.

The Compass for
What’s Next

Designed for Real-World Behavior:
Through user research, we learned that many users opened Sosh mid-outing, not during planning. This insight drove the creation of a lightweight, decision-focused UI that prioritized speed, location accuracy, and clarity under social pressure.

Smart Filtering UI:
Users could quickly sort by category, like bars, live music, or trending now and get curated suggestions based on their current location, time of day, and what was nearby.

Engineering Collaboration:
I worked closely with engineering to test and refine the accuracy of location services in different city environments. This required on-the-ground field testing to make sure recommendations felt both relevant and reliable in real time.

Merchant Tools for a VIP Guest Experience

Personalized Service at Scale:
The app provides staff with guest profiles—including allergies, dietary preferences, and special requests—so they can tailor service with confidence and care.

Designed for Real-World Environments:
User testing revealed a challenge: dim lighting in most restaurants. We designed the UI in dark mode to reduce glare, improve legibility, and keep the mood intact.

Smart Upsell Capabilities:
Merchants can manage prepaid bookings and add à la carte items like drinks or appetizers in real time, helping boost check averages without disrupting the flow.

Frictionless Checkout:
Payments are stored securely within each guest’s Sosh profile, enabling a smooth, contactless exit—no flagging down the check, just walk out when ready.
